Kendel Spicy Sausage Dumplings

Description

Soft, savoury dumplings filled with seasoned sausage and a hint of spice for a satisfying bite that’s perfect on its own or as a side.

Ingredients

  • 1 can Kendel Spicy Chicken Sausages (cut each sausage into 3 pieces)
  • 4 cups Kendel All Purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 1¼ cups milk (skimmed or whole milk)
  • 3 tablespoons Margarine
  • 2 cups Kendel Olive Pomace or Vegetable Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Add margarine and rub into the flour mixture until crumbly.
  2. Gradually add milk to form a soft dough. Be careful not to over-knead. Divide dough into 8pieces. Insert one piece of sausage into the dough, seal and roll into a ball. Set dumplings aside.
  3. Heat oil in a medium-sized frying pan over medium heat. Carefully add a few dumplings at a time to avoid overcrowding. Turn them occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  4. Reduce the flame and cook for 6–8 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Remove dumplings with a slotted spoon and place on absorbent paper to drain excess oil. Serve warm.
